May 7th: Beverley 5f Maiden	Made a lowish to middling price at the Tattersalls part 2 sales. Rated 56 at the sales and notably small and lightly built. Third season sire has ok record with getting competitive minor 2yos and the occasional one useful+ from limited opportunities. Can get 5f winners but wins usual start from May onwards. He has had one runner in 2005 who won a weak race on debut in early April. The dam was one of that relatively regular type of 2yo filly that win sellers or claimers in early season and then develop to show useful form over sprint distances. She has produced 2 winners who showed average form or better. Trainer normally has his runners competent and ready to compete on debut - particularly from mid-May onwards. His earliest debuts can be more variable and in 2002-4 many have not developed nor won. In 2005 he has run three 2yos and none has competed strongly on debut. Trainer runs two in the race and this is worst drawn in 7 (the other is 11). In summary a poor physical type at the sales and likely to be limited by her size. Profile 38 + 5 = 43]
May 27th: Catterick 5f Auction Fillies'	Backed from 33/1 to 5/1 at Beverly with a 3lb apprentice riding. Race had a strong pace for the conditions. Broke slowly and crossed behind the field to the rail. 7 lengths off the pace at halfway and the jockey was quiet and no progress late in a race where the first two cam from well off the pace to finish up the centre of the track. Estimate [18] Trainer had first winner of season with a newcomer in a similar moderate race 4 days ago. What was the support for at Beverley? Profile [56 + 3 = 59]
