SUMMARY OF APPROACH TO 2YO RACING :-

Small stable attached to the Duckhaven Stud. The stud is owned by the person who owns the Pertemps Group and, in effect, he is a private trainer for this operation.
The stable runs a small number of 2yos each season which are usually bred by the stud and often retained cheaply at the sales.
The strategy with 2yos is a simple one = get the 2yos very fit and ready to run on the first day of the season and try to win FTO or STO.
In 2002 this worked well whereby, aided by a wet spring and two bigger but relatively mature 2yos, the stable had a winner at the first Doncaster meeting in March and a surprise second in the Brocklesby (won STO).
In 2003-4 the target has been the same but with less success. Consider that The Job (12/1) in 2002 and Kathy's Job (17/2) in 2003 have both been well beaten in the Brocklesby Stakes and their SPs were not in line with the ability they showed.
Debuts later in the season are normally poor and/or non-2yo types having a run for experience.
