May 3rd: Catterick
5f Auction |
Made low price at Doncaster St Leger Sales. Unpenalised in this auction
race.
Sire has below average record with 2yos after his Hamdam Al Maktoum supported
first season in 2001. Gets odd 5f winner but runners tend to need 6f+.
Runners tend to be better from mid-season onwards.
Dam has an 8f+ pedigree and has produced a 12f winner from a much more
precocious sire in Royal Applause.
Trainer does not target strong debuts and only the very best 2yos tend
to win on debut. His claimer level types tend to be readier than average
and he has had a debut 3rd in a claimer.
In summary a pedigree that should need 6f+ and probably starts at 5f because
she is a limited type. Profile [43 + 5 = 48]

May 10th: Yarmouth
6f Auction |
Backed from 9/1 to 11/2 at Catterick and one of a number of punts on stable
runners recently (only the ones on Newmarket debut runners have been 'correct').
Ran to expectations by breaking slowly and being outpaced for most of a
race with a good pace. More than five lengths off the pace at halfway and
just plugged on but never got into the race. Estimate [21]
Steps up to 6f. Runs after only a 7 day break and trainer has a moderate
record with such short period to STO. Profile [42 + 5 = 47]

June 7th: Salisbury
6f Auction |
20/1 at Yarmouth in a moderate race. Led for a furlong and stayed prominent
and a neck off the lead at halfway. Slightly faded from 1f out as the two
better runners went on. Estimate [41]
For of the Yarmouth race looks reasonable. The second has won since and
the fifth has won a claimer off topweight. Moderate mprovement. Profile
[48 + 12 = 60]
