May 7th: Newmarket
5f Maiden Fillies' |
Made a very high price as a foal.
Exceptional sire is now deceased. Has a good record with 2yos but runners
tend to develop with time. He has not had a 2yo winner before June in Britain
2002-4.
Sire can get 5f winners but better record and more quality with 6f+ wins.
He has had one runner in Britain in 2005 when George Washington was 3rd
in a maiden here last week.
Dam is very well related and was a 12f winner in France.
Younger Irish trainer is the son-in-law of Coolmore 'supremo' John Magnier
(who stood Danehill, etc, etc,).
He had his first runners in Britain in 2004 when he ran three 2yos in either
Novice, Listed or Group races after they had already won in Ireland. The
one winner was Damson who won the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot on her third
run having previously won a maiden (at 6/1) and a Listed race in Ireland.
In summary a very good pedigree but not one that is best suited to 5f.
This will be the trainer's first 2yo debut in Britain so limited information
on the debut strategy here. Profile [72]
