Made a good price at the Tattersalls part 1 sales. His sire's yearlings
sold very well in 2004 after a notably good season, including with his
2yos.
Reviewed at the sales and rated 65 but with a good chance of being a 2yo
winner at his level. Smallish and just above average build, fairly sire
typical but not as well built as the better types and lacked some quality
- 'workmanlike'.
Good sire tends to get 2yos that are physically very similar although often
slightly small, compact, heavy & strong build and not particularly
taking.
Sire had a remarkably good 2004 both for number of winners and quality
and possibly reflecting the better mares he got after his good start at
stud. He has a good record in getting 5f winners although better from May
onwards.
Dam is by a moderate sire and probably just rates as an ok pedigree overall.
She showed moderate form and has produced one moderate runner.
Trainer has an average record with 2yos and has had an increased number
in the last two seasons following poor seasons after a move north to his
present base. He does not target strong debuts and most tend to rate in
the range 35-60 with later winners spread across that range. He gets occasional
debut wins which tend to be earlier in the season when he runs his more
natural 2yos and in weakish races.
In summary ought to be a competitive 2yo and capable of just rating over
70. Being the first runner for the stable is a good sign but unlikely to
be ready enough in this reasonably strong race. Profile [58]
