June 2nd: Sandown
5f Auction |
Made a middling price at the Tattersalls Part 1 sales. The trainer raced
the dam to Group 1 success at 2yo.
Reviewed at the sales and rated 64. Medium size with above average build.
Slightly compact and leggy for size. Balanced walk. Unremarkable otherwise
but not convincing as a 70+ type.
Umpteen times champion sire has a rare early season runner. He has a below
average record with his 2yos and is not a particularly important sire for
2yo racing overall. The majority of his stock are better for 8f+ and development
as 3yos and most of his 2yo runners will have one or two late season runs.
He has had one win before the end of July in the last three seasons and
3 before the end of August. In the same period he has only had three wins
at less than 8f, all at 7f.
Dam was a Group 1 winner at 2yo over 8f having won at 6f STO in August.
She has produced one moderate placed 2yo.
Trainer has a moderate record overall with 2yos given the quality he usually
has and mainly gets wins only with the very best of them. The earliest
debuts each season can include inexperienced runs although debuts from
the end of May onwards tend to competent and the better types can win.
This is the trainer's fifth 2yo runner of the season and the others have
been unplaced.
In summary the trainer introduced some better types in this period in 2004.
However, unlikely to be effective over 5f in early June on his pedigree
even if he has improved from the sales. Profile [58 + 3 = 61]
