April 4th: Declared for
Yarmouth 5.2f Maiden |
Retained for minimum sales price.
Minor sire had few opportunities in but had a minor winner and one placer
from four runners in 2004. The winner was over 5f.
Dam was precocious 5f winner but did not progress. Has produced on very
poor runner to the same sire.
Trainer tends to have runners competent on debut although he targets STO
'peak' (in relative terms with this type) form.
Trainer had has one runner in 2005 which followed this pattern. Profile

April 4th: Yarmouth
Post Race |
The 66/1 outsider. He had the advantages of missing the pace, racing towards
the centre of the track and a 7lb apprentice. He made progress after halfway
and went on with the winner as the pacemakers stalled on the rails. Trainer
does not have his runners fully ready on debut and a solid level of debut
form by his standards. Ought to be able to rate 60s on this evidence. A
positive at a low level for his sire who got a (probably) similar type
with Chilly Cracker in 2004 from only 4 runners. Estimate [53]

May 4th: Chester
5f Conditions |
The form of his debut run has looked mixed. He was beaten by a WGM Turner
runner and that trainer has chosen Dusty City rather than that winner for
this race. The runners behind him have proved to be a mix average types
that ran poorly and plain moderate types.
The trainer usually has a runner in the race and has chosen this one an
L Dettori rides. Likely to be a cut above the normal 2yo the trainer has
but short of the quality for this race. Receives 3lb from the topweight
colts. Profile [69 + 3 = 72]

May 4th: Chester
Post Race |
14/1 6th favourite and L Dettori riding. Showed typical improvement to
expected level and probably close to his best rating. Had a 'quiet race'
and the advantage of a good position and an even race but lacked the ability
to use it in the later stages of the race. Settled 3rd early one off the
rail and fifth at halfway as others made efforts wide out. As the pacemakers
stalled 1.5 furlongs out the first two came through from behind him to
go clear. He plugged on without showing any real progress and couldn't
get to Dusty City who had set the pace. Estimate [69]

May 12th: Salisbury
5f Maiden |
Trainer's 2yos tend not to show much rating progression from STO. His run
here will be informative in relation to the strength of the Lilly Agnes
form but likely to run to a similar level. [70]

May 24th: Ripon
5f Maiden |
9/1 at Salisbury and ran to expectations in a race where the firm ground
and a tailwind produced an all-age course record. Broke well from the outside
draw and pressing the pacemaker after a furlong. The pace picked up notably
after a furlong and within a neck of the lead at halfway and driven soon
afterwards as two bigger colts kept on (he is a medium sized, ready type).
Faded in the last furlong. Estimate [73]
Again sets a good marker in the race because he is likely to run to a similar
level. Estimate [73]
