June 10th: Goodwood
6f Maiden |
Made a lowish price at the Tattersalls part 2 sales.
Reviewed at the sales and rated 64. Below average size and around average
build. Slightly compact and narrow although ok depth and reasonably strong.
By a first season sire with a mixed pedigree that showed 2yo form over
6f. Sire made a moderate impression with yearlings and many were small
although often with better builds.
Sire has had seven moderate debuts so far over 5f (one won STO at 100/1)
and three ok at 5.7-6f (one a targeted debut win in a weak race).
Dam unraced and has produced one moderate placed 2yo from two previous
foals.
Trainer used to have his own small stable but was appointed as private
trainer in owner J. Fretwell's new, purpose built stables in 2004.
When the trainer had his only stables the better 2yos used to rate around
60-65 on debut and improve 14lbs STO. Interesting to see his approach in
his new position.
He has had 9 debuts so far with the best types rating between 58-69 and
competitive to win and place in weaker races. However, they have still
shown good improvement from the debut runs suggesting he still is not targeting
strong FTO runs.
In summary likely to be a 60s rating 2yo at best and below that on debut.
