March 31st : Declared
5f Conditions - Brocklesby
at Doncaster |
Made below average price at Goffs sales.
Third season sire made excellent start in 2003 with 2yos with a lot of
winners and plenty of quality. 2004 was a real step back with less
runners and just 7 average to moderate winners. 2005 likely to be closer
to 2004 than 2003.
Sire ok for 5f but winners tend to be from May onwards and has a poor debut
win record.
Dam was raced in US in a short career and has solid record at stud although
only one winner since her 98 foal who cost much more than this one.
Trainer has poor record with the few minor 2yos she has run in 2002-4.
Has entered three 2yos already ion 2005 who cost more than her normal sale
spend. Two of these were declared two days ago, only one ran and finished
a moderate fourth.
In summary a pedigree of a minor sprint winner at best and not this early
in the season. Trainer has moderate record with 2yos and not likely to
be competitive on debut. K Fallon rides but he rarely rides in the race
and finished unplaced on a moderate runner for D Carroll in 2003 on his
last ride so this is not a clear indication that this one is 'useful'.

20/1 (partly on Fallon riding) and ran prominently in the far side group
for 2f before a bad fade from halfway. Estimate [21]

Musselburgh 5f Auction |
Trainer has a number of more expensive 2yos in 2005. One of these has run
STO and showed improved form off a short break to be competitive in the
same race as The History Man (also in this race) ran in.
In theory this runner should be better than Ooh Aah Camara as it was chosen
to run in the Brocklesby. However evidence suggests the trainer is still
developing her style with 2yos and this sort of inference is difficult
to feel confident about.
Some excuses on debut in race that split into three groups and would expect
to see improvement at least to the original profile. Penalised 4lb in this
auction race because of the sales price. Profile [48 - 4 =44]

April 20th: Catterick
5f Seller |
12/1 at Musselburgh and well beaten and behind at halfway. (Estimate
[35]).
Drops to a seller despite being the trainer's 'chosen' runner in the Brocklesby.
Trainer's runners have shown improvement from debut and this one can improve
slightly to 3TO runs here. Profile [42]
