April 13th: Declared for
Beverley 5f Auction |
Retained for reasonable price in the context of the race.
First season sire made 6f May debut at 2yo and superior 6-7f runner. Made
solid impression at the sales and yearlings sold well. B2yoR rated 32 of
his yearlings and they were a solid group if lacking real stars.
Sire has made a moderate impact with the 4 runners to date.
Dam was rated around 60 at her best at 5f.
Trainer has good record with older runners but approach with 2yos difficult
to assess. Overall record moderate. Earliest debuts often of mixed ability
but run to competent level within their ability.
Trainer has shown the same traits in 2005 with runners placing on debut
at longer SPs but not progressing.
In summary the pedigree of a 50s sprinter and likely to be running close
to her best on debut. Profile [49]

April 13th: Beverley
Post Race |
Ran a fairly typical trainer debut and placed second at 50/1 after being
within three lengths of the good pace at halfway and keeping on best of
the moderate types. Estimate [60]

April 23rd: Ripon
5f Auction Fillies' |
Trainer has had a typical 2005 so far with 2yos. They have been ready on
debut, many have run close to the pace and he has had 6 places on debut
from 9 runners all at longer SPs. However, the STO runs have not shown
any improvement and the usual hints that the 2yos form and rating can tail
off.
Expect a similar run to debut here but possibly slightly lower. Receives
4lb from the topweight fillies. Profile [58 + 4 = 62]

April 30th: Thirsk
5f Novice |
Won by 5 lengths from a T Easterby newcomer at Ripon in a slow race on
soft. Penalised 4lb for that win and meets Mr Rooney again who beat her
on debut.
Trainer's runners tend to be very close to final rating on debut and form
tails off. Profile [62 + 8 = 70]

April 30th: Thirsk
Post Race |
Supported from 9/2 to 7/2 as third favourite having won well from newcomers
in similar ground conditions 7 days before. Broke ok and taken behind the
pacemakers to settle third on the stands' rail. Tracked the good pace by
1.5 lengths at halfway and travelling ok. The pacemakers stalled from inside
2f out and drifted left towards the centre of the course and the 'closers'
followed leaving her alone on the rail and taking the straightest course.
She made 2 lengths on the stalled runners in centre track in the last half
furlong and keeping on at the finish although in a slow time. Possibly
under-rated previously but has shown form on softer ground. Well held by
Mr Rooney (3rd here) on firmer ground on a stiffer track on her debut.

May 13th: York
5f Fillies' Listed |
Has softer going which she has shown her best form on. Her last run at
Thirsk looks under-rated and upgrade profile in line with that. Profile

June 15th: York
5f Group 2 Fillies' |
9/2 3rd favourite at York and some support from 11/2 in a race run on soft.
Just an average pace and the first two in front rank from the start and
only Salut D'Amour made any ground (during mid race). Pressed the leader
by a neck at halfway and went on inside 2f out. Kept on well and duelled
to the line with Gamble In Gold. Estimate [83]
Trainer said after the race he was surprised because they originally couldn't
get her to do anything at home. They though she was duff and might have
run her in a seller first time and lost her. She has shown her true ability
in races which fits with her determined attitude in races.
In a year lacking a prospective high class filly she is tied in with the
best available form for the fillies along with Ooh Aah Camara and Salut
D'Amour (also in the race). They set a reasonable standard but she looks
like the type of filly that would finish in the 5th-8th range in a good
year and might place in an average year. Has run mainly on softer surface.
