March 31st : Declared
5f Conditions - Brocklesby
at Doncaster |
Cheap buy at cheap DOC sales.
Reviewed at sales and rated 63 and small but heavy build for size, moderate
athleticism. Lengthy (sire typical) and below average chance of 2yo competitiveness.
By second season sire who made a good start with 2yos in 2004 with a solid
number of winners and notable for some good quality types. Got 5f winners
but runners tended to be better from May onwards.
Dam was a 70ish rated 5f 2yo and used to have a good record of regularly
reproducing 'herself' with 70s rated sprint 2yos. Her record has tailed
off with her last three foals and the price of this one does not suggest
things have improved.
Trainer's stable in decline and 2004 his poorest 2yo season. Debut runs
are normally poor and a forward showing is a sure sign of a runner with
natural ability (and probable future winner).
Trainer's early season debuts can be very inexperienced. He has had one
2yo debut in 2005 which was adrift after the first furlong.
Trainer has had a runner in the race in 2002-3, one an 80 rated winner
later and one a 40 rated seller winner. Neither were competitive in this
race. In short, he isn't the trainer of nippy, sharp 2yos that win early
in the way that is often made out.
In summary a pedigree that would have been ok 4 years ago but looks moderate
now. Trainer doesn't get FTO winners unless with useful types and sales
price does not suggest this is one. Profile [45]

66/1 for the race on April 12th here and finished a volunteer third after
plugging on from well behind at halfway. He was never competitive in a
poor to moderate race. Estimate [49]
The only subsequent runners from the April 12th race have run in sellers
NTO (6th and 8th). The trainer has been showing hints of better form bt
still has not had a runner rate over 50. Minor improvement. Profile
