July 7th: Folkestone
7f Maiden |
Made a good price at the Tattersalls October Part 1 sales.
Sire has average record with 2yos although he rarely gets winners before
mid-season. Better types tend to develop through the season and ok for
7f+ wins.
Dam showed average placed form at 2yo and improved at 7-10f at 3yo. Her
first two foals sold well and have shown ratings around 70 at 2yo.
Fourth 2yo runner of the season for an organised and consistent trainer
that takes 2yo reasonably seriously. Has had a variable number of 2yo runners
and winners over the last five seasons. A prime factor in this variability
is that around two thirds of the 2yos he runs are owner breds.
This is a later start than normal as he normally runs a few 2yos in April-May.
The earliest runners in each season are normally chosen as competitive
2yos at some level, including higher class types like Three Valleys (2003)
& Pike Bishop (2004).
He does not target FTO wins and runners tend to be around 8-16lbs below
their best on debut. The FTO wins usually come along with the useful or
superior runners, sometimes in combination with a moderate race. FTO SP
is not a consistent indicator of FTO performance nor ability.
Trainer's first two runners have won FTO but both have looked superior
types for K. Abdulla and look capable of going on to Listed+ level. The
third debut started favourite and looked an ok type but showed inexperience
and ran poorly in a race with a strong pace.
In summary likely to be a 75-82 type on pedigree nad not quite the useful+
type that could win comfortably FTO. Profile [64]
