May 2nd: Warwick
5f Maiden Fillies' |
Made lowish price at Tattersalls part 2 sales.
Third season sire has a just reaching average record with 2yos. He gets
winners at all distances at about equal rates (possibly suggesting the
dam's input is important). He can get occasional earlyish 5f winners.
Dam was US bred and showed average form over 7-9f at 2-3yo. She has produced
older winners with her previous foals.
Trainer does not target strong FTO runs and the wins come along with the
best 2yos. He has had 5 debuts in 2005 and the best run has been a 3rd
place at Newmarket where he seems to target his better runners.
The trainer has had two unplaced fillies in the race 2002-3.
In summary likely to need further than 5f and to be below her best on debut.

5.1f Auction Fillies' |
Supported from 12/1 to 9/1 in a season when only support for his runners
at Newmarket has been significant. Broke slowly and los two lengths+. Close
up behind a moderate pace after a furlong and dropped back to more three
lengths behind the pace at halfway. Plugged on in straight without ever
getting into the race. Faders from front rank made her seem to 'finish'
better than she actually did. Estimate [54].
Runs 7 days after debut and the trainer has a poor record with these shorter
breaks (no winner from 11 in 2003-4). Two of the three STO runners have
recorded lower ratings in 2005 and the other had made a notably poor debut.
Looked short of true 5f pace on debut. Profile [54 + 1 = 55]

Again supported at Wolverhampton from 9/1 to 6/1. Ran a similar race to
debut being able to track the pace -by 2L at halfway on the bend - but
outpaced in the straight and plugging on. Ran the rail which seemed to
be an advantage on the day with runners going wide in the straight making
little progress. Estimate [55]
Steps up to 6f and after a reasonable break. Ought to show similar form.

6f Maiden |
11/2 at Doncaster with a 3lb apprentice. Race split into 2 groups with
the far side probably having a 2L advantage at halfway and the first three
home on that side and clear of the stands' side. Ran on the stands' side
and a neck off the leader there at halfway. Plugged on from there and first
home on her side. Estimate [44]
Unlikely to show improvement on her fourth run and back on the AW but worth
noting her sire has a better record with runners in later season.

June 4th: Epsom
6f Listed |
8/1 at Wolverhampton in a race with a good pace where the short priced
favourite failed. 3L off the lead at halfway and slightly outpaced on the
turn to the straight. Plugged on in the last furlong to pick up the fading
leader who had gone clear into the straight but did not get home.

June 14th: York
7f Listed |
33/1 at Epsom and her performances raises doubts about the form. Either
she improved by more than 10lb or the placed horses ran more below form
than assessed. The winner of that race runs in the earlier Coventry Stakes
and should competitve to win/place if the form level is believable.
Ran on the rail and a professional effort. Within 3L of the lead at halway
and made progress after halfway after the winner had cleared away. Went
for a gap on the rail and would probably have got to 2nd past the fading
leader but got spueezed out and dropped back to 5th. Estimate [72]
Steps up to 7f which should be an advantage on pedigree. Estimate
[75 + 5 = 80]
