5f Conditions |
Made solid price at the Tattersalls part 1 sales but not high by the sales
standards.
Second season sire made ok start in 2004 with 13 winners but short on quality.
Ok for 5f but runners tended to be better from mid-season onwards.
Has had two 5f winners in 2005, one on debut.
Dam is related to a number of useful sprint 2yos but was just an average
5f AW 3yo herself.
New trainer in 2004 ran ten 2yos and got 3 winners including one on debut
by his best 2yo in later season. He was notable for having his 2yos close
to their best rating on debut. FTO SPs were not correlated with ability.
In summary an ok pedigree to produce an average 5f 2yo winner. Likely to
be close to his best on debut and receives up to 6lb from the previous
winners. Profile [68 + 6 = 74]

Post Race |
Absolutely classic 'medium sprinter'. Medium size and above average build.
Very fit on debut. In proportion and with good power behind. Unremarkable
overall and a neat, ready, 2yo sprinter.
Ought to be able to rate 80+ but slightly limited by size for later season
development. Paddock review rated 75.
16/1 fifth favourite on debut for a newish trainer who won FTO with his
best 2yo in 2004. Looked well prepared and ready.
Ran quite freely early behind an average pace and pulled up to press the
leader by a length at halfway. Race developed into a 2f sprint and well
placed when that started. Showed less change-of-pace than Green Park and
lost just over a length to him but went on with him and challenged him
to the line although always held. Hung to the rail across Bertie Southstreet
at the furlong post. A good debut and the trainer seems to assess his 2yos
well before they run. Slightly below expectations but only in line with
the slowish time for the race. Estimate [65]

Solid run on debut and confirmed the physical review that he ought to be
able to rate comfortably over 70. Profile [75]

5f Group 3 |
Evens favourite at Newmarket in a moderate group with the only oppostion
from newcomers. Drawn int he centre and raced up the centre. Allowed to
go along at his pace by R. Hughes and 3L clear at halfway. Pulled 5L clear
overall. Although not pressed by the jockey he was going close to full
speed anyway and probably not the best thing to work so hard to win an
ordinary maiden. A fast raw time but not startling given the fast ground
and the general times at the meeting. Estimate [85]
A smaller, neat and very ready type and seemed especially well suited to
the firmer going at Newmarket after the easier going on debut. Rain at
York previous day and going unlikely to be good to firm. R Hughes rides
again although R Hannon has a runner ridden by R Moore. Estimate
