June 16th: Newbury
6f Maiden c&g |
Owner bred by Hamdan Al Maktoum.
Good sire has good record with UK raced 2yos. Gets winners at all distances.
Wins tend to start from May onwards but worth noting that most of his previous
2yos have been with 'bigger' stables (the Dunlops, Stoute etc.) who don't
start with 2yos until later in the season.
Sire imported to UK by Darley in 2003. He has had the winner of the Coventry
Stakes this week.
Dam half sister to Group 1 2yo and sire Mujahid. Unraced at 2yo she won
over 7f on her 3yo debut on May 31st for this trainer. One later run in
a Listed race in August and unplaced.
Trainer is notable as a 'Show FTO or nothing' type of trainer. He usually
has his debut runners fit, professional and ready to perform to a high
level within their ability and if they do not place, then they are probably
moderate.
He has had four debuts in 2005 with one win, one place and two unplaced.
The SP has not been a good indicator of what is expected.
Owner has two in the race with N Mackay on this one and I Mongan on the
J Dunlop trained Layazaal. The race clashes with the major York meeting
so the retained owner jockys are there.
In summary a good pedigree and triner usually has debuts competetnt and
a solid record at Newbury (including a second in this race in 2003). Profile
