Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 7th: Newmarket
5f Maiden Fillies'
  • Made solid price at Doncaster St Leger sales.
  • First season sire made 6f May debut at 2yo and superior 6-7f runner. Made solid impression at the sales and yearlings sold well.
  • B2yoR rated 32 of his yearlings and they were a solid group if lacking real stars.
  • Sire has had 14 runners already with two wins, one on debut in a moderate race at Edinburgh. 5 other runners have placed on debut at moderate levels.
  • Older dam won a seller at 2yo before developing to a useful 6-7f winner. She has produced a range of quality and as is often the case the latest foals have been more  moderate types.
  • The trainer does not target strong debut runs and some can be inexperienced in early season. The FTO winners tend to be his best types and such a win is usually an indicator of a Group class performer.
  • In 2003-4 he seems to have selected his debut runners at this course with care and they have competed better than his average FTO runners.
  • He has run three at the course this year with two placing and a poor runner well beaten. The best of these runners was supported from 12/1 to 8/1.
  • In summary a solid pedigree and could just about produce an above average 2yo but, on balance, likely to be below that level. If she's useful then she's likely to be supported and might place.  Profile [63]
  • June 1st: Beverley
    5f Listed Fillies'
  • Supported from 7/1 to 4/1 second favourite at Newmarket. Rain on the day and ground had slightly softened and there was a strong tailwind. Race was taken along at a modest pace by a poor filly (beaten in an AW claimer since) and developed into less than a 2f sprint at the end of the race. She broke left from an inside draw to end up tracking the slow pace in second and was in the ebest position to start the sprint. Went 2L clear and not hard pressed to win.
  • Looked a medium size with a good build and an athletic mover.  Estimate [65]
  • Did not achieve a great deal in winning a moderate to average maiden on debut. The 3rd-6th & 8th have been beaten in varied company since. Obviously the best of that group but hard to asses an upper limit.
  • Has a very good draw in 14 next to the far rail so long as she starts straight and dos not go left as she did on debut.  Profile [84]
