May 14th: Newbury
6f Maiden |
Not sold for a high price at Keeneland September sales, a solid advance
on his foal price.
Good, US based, sire has a good record with his few British based 2yos.
They have included a high proportion of high quality runners and ok for
6f.
Dam was a 2yo winner and Canada and has produced 7 minor winners in North
America including a full brother.
Trainer uses common strategy of trying to win a maiden in the first two
runs with 2yos and then step the better types up to Conditions+ races.
The debuts tend to be competent and to a good level within the 2yos ability.
In 2005 they seemed to have their runners slightly more ready on debut
and got two early FTO wins.
This is an earlier than usual start for the stable.
In summary likely to be a slightly above an average maiden winner. Competent
on debut. Profile [71]

June 3rd: Goodwood
6f Maiden |
Drifted from 9/1 to 12/1 on debut in the slower division of the Newbury
maiden run on firm ground which did not suit some (the favourite notably
failed in the race). A number of horses who ran on the firm ground there
(all ages) have seemed to run poorly since.
Lost 3L with a slow start and settled towards the back of the group as
he ran freely early and held by the jockey. Made progress to midfield from
halfway and plugged on for fourth as some of the early runners faded.
Estimate [53]
Just a mildly promising debut and never got into the race and the form
is moderate. The third has run placed in an average Auction race here since.
Trainer's earliest debuts in 2004 were a mix of types and those with better
ability tended to start at shorter SPs FTO. Profile [67]

June 17th: Newmarket
6f Maiden |
Strength of his Newbury maiden 4th looks better now with the 1st (Chesham),
2nd, 3rd & 6th having won in the last 2 weeks. The actual level of
form at Newbury in just an average time was not high but he was competing
against better types there. Raise profile. Profile [77]

July 11th: Windsor
6f Maiden |
4/6f at Newmarket and a disappointing run. Ran quite freely early on and
led. More than a length clear at halfway but in an average pace. Challenged
by two newcomers coming to the last 1f and no response and plugged on for
3rd. Estimate [69]
The runs of the 4th & 5th from his maiden 3rd LTO make that form look
moderate to average. No obvious excuse for the lower than expected rating
although possibly a little wound up and too free. Well drawn here and vulnerable
to better newcomers. Profile [71]
