June 15th: Hamilton
6f Maiden |
Made a middling price at the Tattersalls Ireland sales and owned by J.
Fretwell.
Sire has good record with relatively few UK runners. He had a mixed pedigree
but gets winners at 5-6f, including early season and ok quality. Has had
a poor start to 2005 with an increased number of runners but poor quality
and one seller win.
Older dam a very patchy producer and has had only 4 foals. The best was
a 70 rated 4yo winner foals in 1994 andnoting worthwhile since.
Trainer used to have his own small stable but was appointed as private
trainer in owner J. Fretwell's new, purpose built stables in 2004.
When the trainer had his only stables the better 2yos used to rate around
60-65 on debut and improve 14lbs STO. Interesting to see his approach in
his new position.
He has had 9 debuts so far with the best types rating between 58-69 and
competitive to win and place in weaker races. However, they have still
shown good improvement from the debut runs suggesting he still is not targeting
strong FTO runs.
Worth noting he has had two debut - Christa Bee & Billich - for a different
owner which have appeared to be more ready FTO.
In summary likely to be the first foal from the dam that the breeder has
got worthwhile money for. A good sign he runs this realy. Likely to be
a 65-70 type at best and no reason to think it will be an unusually strong
debut for the trainer. Profile [53]
