5f Maiden Fillies' |
Owner bred by Maktoum Al Maktoum's Gainsborough Stud.
Sire has a variable but better than average record with 2yos and they tend
to be better for 6f+ and development through the season.
He has made a good start to 2005 with four M Channon trained 5-6f winners
including two on debut.
Dam is very well related but unraced. Produced 3 winners from 7 previous
foals none at 2yo.
Good trainer that supports 2yo racing. His debut runners tend to be competent
and the FTO wins come along with better runners who can win on better ability.
However, he tends to choose his earliest debut runners well and most are
competitive to place and win if they are useful+.
He has had four earlier debut runs in 2005 three of which were uncompetitive
on debut. A free running type won a moderate to average race FTO.
This is the third 2yo to run since those four early debut runners (the
first was 2nd FTO and beaten as favourite yesterday). Three of the initial
four have won (two STO after midfield debuts) and the other disappointed
as strong favourite.
His debut runners between mid-May to early June in 2002-4 (i.e. after the
early debuts of the identified precocious types) have bee a mix of types.
They have mostly been average or better winners but most have needed the
debut to develop from. Only the subsequent Royal Ascot winner Whazzat has
won FTO in that period.
In summary the trainer debuted a filly over 5f at Sandown yesterday who
looked a good type. She was notably wayward but finished 4th despite this
in a tougher race. Likely to be an average winner in the season but to
need the debut. Profile [63]
