5f Maiden |
Made middling price at the Doncaster St Leger sales.
Reviewed at the sales and rated 61 with an average chance of being a competitive
at a low level. He was slightly small and very heavily built. His muscularity
promised he could be a strong 2yo and develop well but he looked to lack
the athleticism to use this strength.
Sire has ordinary 2yo record and very rarely gets 5f winners, early winners,
nor debut winners. However he has had the Brocklesby 3rd in 2005 but that
runner has got into two 5f races late on. Another debut runner got into
an uphill Pontefract 5f race late. He had a FTO debut winner at 14/1 in
a poor Southwell race last week.
Dam was a useful 5f sprinter and had produced superior and useful sprinters
which raced for TG Mills.
Trainer made quick start to 2004 and had two winners by early April. His
usual strategy before that had been to use debut runs to develop from and
look to win STO. He seems to have returned to that method in 2005 and has
had four 2yos run so far and all have made poor to moderate debuts.
The trainer won a division of the race in 2002 with a STO filly and introduced
a similar type who finished fifth on debut in 2003.
K Fallon rides and well drawn in 2 of 16.
In summary looked a moderate type at the sales and will probably need the
debut to develop from. Profile [56]

Post Race |
13/2 third favourite with Fallon riding and well drawn in stall 2. Looked
small and fitter than the trainer's usual and he has not had a strong debut
in 2005. Broke 2nd and 3 lengths off the strong pace after 1f with the
field was spread over 10 lengths and more by this point. Fading before
halfway (moderate types kept on better from similar positions) and lost
ground quite quickly and the jockey almost pulled him up in the last furlong.
No obvious excuse. Estimate [8]

Presumably better than his run at Chester but limited by his size. Profile

May 30th: Sandown
5f Listed |
14/1 fourth favourite at Lingfield in the weaker division which was run
in a time 1.3 seconds slower than the other. Tracked the pace by 2L at
halfway and made a short effort in the straight to make half a length.
Plugged on to close a little further on the small odds-on favourite. Estimate
[60]
Trainer runs three in the race and this one seems to have changed ownership
and probably second string. Form shown so far is not good enough to compete
in this race even with improvement. Lacks the physical scope to develop
to 80+. Profile [65]
