Newmarket 5f Mf |
Made solid price at Tattersalls part two sales. Now owned by Jaber Abdullah
who is an important owner for the stable.
Reviewed at sales and rated 64 and with a below average chance of being
competitive at her level. She was physically immature at the sales but
unremarkable otherwise.
Sire has a variable but better than average record with 2yos. He can get
5f winners but runners better for 6f+ usually. Notably he does not get
early season winners and better record from mid-season onward. His earliest
runner in 2004 was Bibury Flyer who ran for the same trainer as this one
(he is notable for starting 2yos early over 5f that other trainers would
not). She did not win until her ninth run in July and showed best form
over 7f in late season so a good case could be made that she made her debut
too early.
The dam cost 52k gns at the sales and was a useful winner from 7f upwards.
She has produced older winners abroad.
The trainer does not target debut wins and has a notable record of getting
horses placed on debut without quite winning. His earliest debuts in 2005
have been variable but he seems to be settling down to the usual pattern.
Worth noting that the owner is one that he tends to get debut runners a
little readier for (in 2005 one of his two debut wins has been for Mr Abdullah).
The trainer has introduced moderate to average types in the race in 2002-3.
In summary the pedigree of a 2yo that will need 7f to show her best and
sales review did not suggest that would be above average level (and she
needed to develop to reach that). The trainer had two early debut winners
in 2005 but has settled down to more usual pattern. The owner suggests
this one may be readier than average. Profile [62]

Post Race |
A strong 5/4f with the stable confidence that she was useful and no strong
positives for the others. She does not have an obviously good pedigree
for 5f at ought to be better for 6f+. Her trainer is about the only one
who runs 2yos by Zafonic early in the season. It was notable that she is
owner by Jaber Abdullah who seems to get the best of the trainer's 'cheaply'
bought fillies passed on to him. The trainer has now had three debut wins
in 2005 and two have been for this owner.
She looked to have grown from the sales and muscled up well. More surprisingly
she looked mature both physically and mentally which she was not at the
sales. She broke slightly slowly but was soon tracking the pacemakers on
the far side and travelling well. She was pressing for the lead at halfway
and went on after 2 furlongs out and hung left steadily across to the far
rail. She won slightly comfortably. It was just an average 5f performance
but we can presume she will develop from this although likely to be better
at 6f+. Estimate [71]

5f Fillies' Conditions |
Interesting that she runs over 5.15 furlongs here when there is a 6f Listed
race at York on the same day. The trainer runs the maiden Dream Rose at
York for the same owner. Worth noting that the forecast going is GF at
Newbury & SGS at York.
The form of her debut win is not strong with the 2nd & 3rd being beaten
over 5f since and the 4th & 5th have won moderate 5f races. The sixth
has been well beaten in a moderate race over 6f. However, on the plus side
she won slightly comfortably and was going on a the finish.
Likely to be a short price favourite and receiving 3lb from the other previous
winner. The race may well be a typical, small field, conditions race with
a moderate pace. In that case she might be a little vulnerable in a '2f
sprint' of a race. Profile [78]

5f Group 2 Fillies' |
2/5f in a 3 horse race and not tested. Travelled easily with an average
pace and made an effort to go 7L clear in about a furlong although from
a rival looking just to keep 2nd palce and not to chase her. Showed an
ability to quicken and won easily. Estimate [84]
Untested so far and has scope for further improvement just on being asked
to work harder. Trainer has run other fillies in Listed races on softer
ground and presu, ably she has always been his top filly and saved for this
race. Profile [94]
