Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
March 26th: Entered for -
Kempton 5f
Maiden - (D2)
  • Above average price for DSL sales.
  • By second season sire who had 5 moderate to average winners in first season, only one at 5f although two early runners showed 60s form over 5f.
  • Dam has produced 3 useful sprint winners including early runners.
  • Reviewed at the sales and a good size and build and rated 71.
  • Trainer does not target FTO wins and early debuts have not been competitive. First runner of season finished 7th at 11/2. Trainer had good winner Polly Alexander finish 5th in this race in 2004.
  • Still down as owned by trainer on entry. Also declared for the Musselburgh 5f race on March 27th.
  • In summary an acceptable physical type but unlikely to be ready to compete on debut. Profile [53]
  • March 27th:
    Entered for
    Musselburgh
    5f Maiden
  • Also entered for Kempton on previous day. Interesting to see which is the chosen race. Profile [53]
  • March 28th:
    Entered for
    Redcar 5f Maiden
  • Also entered for Kempton and Musselburgh. Profile [53]
  • April 2nd: Declared
    for Kempton 5f
    Maiden
  • Finally runs after being entered for various previous races including the Brocklesby and a seller.
  • Trainer's first runner of the season was uncompetitive.
  • Leave profile at same level and assess the run.  Profile [53]
  • April 2nd: Kempton
    Post Race
  • Has been entered in a variety of races before this run including the Brocklesby and a seller. The seller entry suggested that the trainer did not think he was very good.
  • However, he opened at 3/1 and received support to get to 11/4. He was given a relatively attacking ride to lead until fading entering the last 1f.
  • A typical debut by the standards of the trainer's early debuts in 2004 and his one previous runner in 2005. Given that the trainer has used some 'old-fashioned' techniques in the past it is worth considering whether the seller entry was ever expected to be his right level.
  • [For example, you could imagine a situation where he spoke to his old mate Mick Channon who told him they didn't expect much from Grantley Adams. R Hannon said their 2yos were behind their normal schedule and would be happy with a good run from Cool Creek, he could see Glenmuir didn't have a 5f pedigree and thought that a fit Getbuzzin might be competitive to win. Even if he has his limitations beyond being an early season 2yo.]
  • Anyway, an acceptable debut by trainer standards although the slow time for the race is a concern. Ought to be able to improve to rate around 70 early season.   Estimate [59]
  • April 9th: Declared for
    5f Lingfield Auction
  • Penalised 4lb in relation to all other runners because he was the most expensive at the yearling sales.
  • Runs 7 days after his belated debut having been declared for the abandoned Redcar race on March 28th and entered for a variety of other races.
  • Trainer has an acceptable record with 2yos running STO within 8 days of debut. His debut runs are usually around 10lbs+ below final rating and runners are close to their best STO.
  • Trainer's only other runner of the season improved around 10lbs on her second run, although at a low level. Would expect similar improvement with this runner who got notably tired in the last furlong on debut. This improvement would also fit within the runners capabilities as judged at the sales. Profile [70 - 4 = 66]
  • May 13th: Nottingham
    6f Novice
  • Looked to lack the pace for the downhill 5f at Lingfield and if he is to reach a 70 rating it will need to be in a different test and probably over 6f. Estimate [60]
  • Steps up to 6f after a break and meets Glenmuir on 7lb better terms than when he was comfortably beaten by him on debut at Kempton after he had forced the pace. Has looked capable of better over 6f and his trainer has used this race for one of his better 2yos previously although he has entered this one in a seller in early season. Profile [71]
  • May 20th: Bath
    5.7f Maiden
  • 3lb apprentice at Nottingham and 13/2 4th favourite. Set a moderate pace on the rail and led by a neck at halfway. Made an effort 2F out but again showed that he is a 'lengthener' and not a quickener. Plugged on but outpaced by better types.  Estimate [64]
  • Drops back to 5.7f and on a stiffer course. Has looked to lack pace and vulnerable to nippier types. Would be suited by a too strong pace and able to stay on at the end of the race.  Profile [68]
