May 12th: Carlisle
5f Maiden |
Made a lowish price at the Doncaster St Leger sales.
By a second season sire who made an average start in 2004 with a limited
number of 2yos. Got winners at 5f from May onwards. He had a 5f winner
last week.
Dam was unraced and has produced one minor 5yo winner abroad. Her best
runner here cost 7.5k and was 3rd over 5f on an early season debut but
race only twice more showing regressive form.
Trainer normally has his runners competent and ready to compete on debut
- particularly from late May onwards. His earliest debuts can be more variable
and in 2002-4 many have not developed nor won. In 2005 he has run six 2yos
and none has competed strongly on debut including one that was backed from
33/1 to 5/1 at Beverley.
In summary a reasonable sales price given the breeding. The trainer has
not got going with his 2yos yet and this seems a common theme with the
bulk of the stable 2yo winner coming in the second half of the season.
He's due a good 2yo debut but on balance this is unlikely to be the one
although market support would be interesting. Profile [52]

33/1 at Carlisle in a moderate race and ridden by a 3lb apprentice. 2L
down after the first furlong and more than 3L at halfway. Plugged on for

The third outclassed runner for the trainer in a Listed+ race this year
(unusual?). Prile [60 + 6 = 66]
