April 11th: Declared
Lingfield 5f Maiden |
Sold for solid price at Tattersalls Ireland sales. Well above average price
for his first season sire's yearlings.
First Season Sire only ran at 7f as 2yo. Made moderate impression at sales.
B2yoR reviewed 8 of his yearling sales and most were moderate although
all but one sold for less than this one.
Sire has had two runners so far who have shown low level form on debut
although both were much cheaper than this one.
Dam already has a good record for producing 2yo winners who cost similar
amounts to this one. The previous two foals were both competitive on debut
(first & second) with the better runner making a mid-April debut.
Trainer has had eight debut runs in 2005 with a mix of competent and inexperienced.
He has had two debut wins (at 85/40f & 4/1), one by a probable 'natural'
in a weak race and one by a better type for one of his 'specific' owners
(Jaber Abdullah).
The other five debuts in non sellers have been four unplaced who never
looked likely to win their races (at 5/2, 3/1, 4/1 and 11/2), plus a more
typical placed debut for an important owner.
In summary the pedigree on a 70+ sprint 2yo winner and ought to be competitive
early. A typical trainer debut is normally just short of being ready to
win unless a useful+ type. Trainer's debut runners in 2005 have been more
variable than usual but only one has looked liked winning on debut in non-selling
races. Profile [60]
Slightly nice to see that the owner is trying to break the habit of making
names out of adding '-it' to words (Checkit, Tappit, Breezit, etc. , etc.).
But putting a space in isn't mould breaking, not quite ' Spring In Deep
Sea' is it.
