May 14th: Thirsk
5f Novice |
Made a lowish price at the Doncaster October sales.
Reviewed at the sales and rated 70, slightly above average chance of being
a 2yo winner. Just below average size but just above average build. Neat
and slightly mature and looked capable of being competitive up to the rating
in early season.
By solid 'cult' sire that gets a good number of tough runners and does
well with AW runners. Can get 5f 2yo winners from May onwards
Dam rated in the low 60s at best in a long career. She has produced one
useful 5f 2yo along with a lot of dross. At least the useful 2yo was relatively
recent.
First runner of the season for an average trainer and does not strongly
target 2yo racing and slightly below average record given the quality of
his 2yo runners.
Debut runners are often very fit and run close to, or at, their best rating
for the season FTO. The better runners can compete well on debut, especially
in the first half of the season. FTO SP is not strongly correlated with
FTO performance nor overall ability.
The runners which make the earliest debuts (usually by mid-July) will include
the majority of runners which will be able to compete, and possibly win
at 2yo. Later debuts tend to be moderate types or those lacking 2yo potential
having development runs before being put away for their 3yo careers.
In summary a good sign that she is the trainer's first runner of the season.
This supports the sales view that she should be competitive as an earlier
season 2yo. Likely to be close to her best on debut. Profile [69]
