June 7th: Chester
5f Maiden |
Made a low price at the Doncaster October Sale.
Fifth runner for first season sire who himself only cost 2.8k gns at the
sales. He has an 'all speed' pedigree and was a tough sprint 2yo although
below pattern race class. He developed over a long career to win a Group
2 6f sprint at 6yo.
The sire has a moderate pedigree and none of his siblings have rated over
70 and his latest half-brother sold for 1.5k gns at the 2004 sales.
He has four moderate runners in 2005 but the last two have won a claimer
and a Class 7 fillies' auction on debuts.
Dam showed poor placed form over sprint distances.
Trainer normally has his runners competent and ready to compete on debut
- particularly from late May onwards. His earliest debuts can be more variable
and in 2002-4 many have not developed nor won.
In 2005 he has run nine 2yos and most of the early ones competed poorly
on debut including one that was backed from 33/1 to 5/1 at Beverley.
His latest four debuts have been better including a FTO win in a poor fillies'
auction at Beverley and a promising 5th in a fillies' maiden yesterday.
In summary a moderate profile but some positives with the sire showing
hints that he will get competitive types at a low level. Trainer also getting
into better form with debuts. Estimate [51 + 5 = 56]
