Entered for
Redcar 5f Maiden |
Retained at sales for relatively cheap price for TO2 sale and cheaper than
either of the dam's previous two foal.
Reviewed at sales at short and lightly built behind and rated 60.
Second entry for First Season Sire who won over 6f at 2yo showing more
speed and precocity than his pedigree promised. Sire made below average
impression at the sales.
Dam was one of those relatively regular 2yo fillies who develop from early
season sellers to show enough 5f speed to win minor pattern races. Has
produced on moderate runners and one that showed promise on it's only run
in 2004 (made 26k).
B2yoR reviewed 5 of his yearlings at the sales and they were a moderate
group.
Trainer does not target FTO wins but has had a debut winner with his first
runner in 2003 (6/1) and 2004 (14/1). They were both useful to superior
types. Normal debuts rate between 50 to 64 for average to useful winners.
Trainer has two entries in this race and this looks the second string.
In summary a moderate type on sales review and likely to be moderate runner.
Shouldn't be competitive here. Profile [42]

Warwick Post Race |
Opened favourite but drifted to 7/2jf. She broke well and set a too fast
pace which saw all three pacesetters fall away before the last furlong
and had the first four clear at halfway.
A trainer debut that rates below 50 is usually a sign that they wont be
competitive for a win later.
However given the pacesetting and ragged race result it is probably worth
seeing what she can do second time out in different circumstances. Estimate

Musselburgh 5f Auction |
Set too fast a pace on debut and faded badly. One of the other bad faders
from that race (Queens Bounty) has run poorly since. Still worth seeing
whether she can improve to close to her sales rating STO, particularly
because the trainer has now had two STO winners with fillies in 2005 (although
both performed much better than this one on debut).
Penalised 2lb for sales price. Profile [54 - 2 = 52]

15/2 and tracked the leader (The History Man) who got unbalanced and faded
and left her in the lead on GF ground. Kept on ok but a low level of form
with the favourite failing. Estimate [53]
Has looked limited to 60s form but interesting that the trainer chooses
to run her in this race. He has only declared the 70s rated claiming winner
filly Mirasol Princess in the race in the last 3 seasons (she was a non
runner after a wide draw, as she also was at Beverley in a Listed race).

Post Race |
50/1 9th favourite and interesting to estimate how she compares to her
trainer's other winning fillies - Amber Glory & Countrywide Dream.
Is she the best of these three? Broke 4th from stall 9 and settled 5th
early 3 off the rail. As the leaders settled the pace down after the first
furlong she made progress to press the pacemakers at halfway, this was
an early effort and at least 3 wide off the rails. She faded a little from
1.5f out and ran to expectations. However, she can probably rate higher
with a more even race run. Estimate [58]

Again the trainer's choasen runner in better races. Some improvement from
last time with a better run. Profile [65 + 8 = 73]]
