July 11th: Windsor
6f Maiden |
Made a solid price for the Tattersalls December sales.
Reviewed at the sales and rated 63 with a below average chance of being
a 2yo winner. In proportion and ok set-up in front but notably weak behind
and physically immature.
Good sire has good record with UK raced 2yos. Gets winners at all distances.
Wins tend to start from May onwards but worth noting that most of his previous
2yos have been with 'bigger' stables (the Dunlops, Stoute etc.) who don't
start with 2yos until later in the season.
Sire imported to UK by Darley in 2003. He has had the winner of the Coventry
Stakes in 2005 along with several moderate runners.
Major 2yo trainer does not target strong debuts and they usually come along
with the useful+ types and often in moderate races.
The first 55 debuts in 2005 produced just 2 FTO wins (both at this course
in moderate races) and was indicative of his lack of useful+ early 5f types
this season.
He then ran 8 on debut over 9 days (June 30-July 8th) and had three debut
winners that were supported and ridden by P. Dobbs/R Moore/Rhughes. These
debut wins were over 7f and the (each-way) support came late on possibly
suggested they had ascertained that none of the other runners were particularly
well regarded. The 7f debuts fits in with the overall view that they lack
a good group of sprint 2yos but have some better later developing and 7f+
types.
Trainer runs two in the race, neither well drawn, with R Moore on this
one and R Hughes on Sun Catcher.
In summary would probably need to be useful to win this from a moderate
draw on a normal trainer debut although each-way support would be significant.
Overall profile suggests an average debut. Profile [60]
