June 10th: Sandown
7f Maiden |
Made a high price at the Tattersalls Part 2 sales and notably high for
his sire who gets occasional high class runners but is not fashionable.
Sire had a much larger number of 2yos in 2004 in recognition of some good
results with small early crops. However, the number of winners did not
increase in line with this. He gets 6f winners but has a better record
at 5f and this is helped by M Channon being associated with the sire.
Sire has only had one 7f win in the last two seasons.
Dam just adequately related showed poor unplaced form at 2yo in Britain
over 6-7f. Her first foal won once from 11 runs at 2yo in 2004 for C Brittain
and took until STO to break his maiden.
Trainer does not target 2yo racing strongly and has a moderate record.
His number of wins has decreased in recent seasons possibly because of
illness in the stable. He is notable for rarely getting FTO winners.
However, he has had four second places from six FTO runs to date. Two of
those have won STO.
Trainer runs two in the race with the other an owner bred for Maktoum Al
Maktoum. P Hanagan rides this one and J Spencer the other.
In summary a slightly confusing story. He must have been a very good specimen
to make the sales price but is by a sire with a better 5-6f record. His
dam showed moderate form over 6-7f at 2yo. She was a by a 6-8f sire although
more stoutly bred on her dam's side. If he had better ability you would
have thought he would have been tried over 6f. Profile [58]
