April 25th: Windsor
5f Auction Fillies |
Retained for low price at sales.
By minor sire that can get early 5f minor 2yo winners.
Dam was a 5f claiming race winner. She has a good record at getting competitive
2yos with here previous foals. She has produce and April 5f 2yo winner
to the same sire and also a filly who was a promising 4th on her only 2yo
run for the same trainer. However, her highlight was he 2001 foal who sold
for only 1k gns and ran in AW sellers but developed to win a Listed race
at 2yo.
Trainer has her first runner of the season. The stable targets 2yo racing
and particularly with relatively cheaply bought fillies. 2yos tend to be
competent on debut without being able to win.
The trainer had a filly finish 7th in this race in 2004 on debut and she
proved later to be probably the best filly in that group of 15.
In summary a good pedigree to produce a competitive 2yo and the sales price
less of a worry than normal. Trainer's earliest debuts in each season tend
to be competitive to be minor winners in the season and this is a later
start than usual. Has a good draw in 13 and an interesting type in a poor
to moderate race. Profile [54 + 4 = 58]

May 23rd: Windsor
5f Novice |
14/1 on debut in a race run on softer going and the field switched to the
far side in the straight so the draw not an advantage. However, after a
slightly slow break she showed nothing in the race and finished 10th.
Estimate [10]
Trainer's 2yos have made a moderate start and none have placed suggesting
she has a limited group overall. However, all the other debuts have been
more competent and to better ratings. Ought to show better form here but
from a very low base. Profile [50 + 12 = 62]

June 2nd: Sandown
5f Auction |
33/1 at Windsor and never got into the race but did not get outclassed
either. Ran the usual race in these Novice races being around 2L of the
average pace at halfway and getting outpaced as the better types started
the race proper after halfway and then plugged on. Estimate [55]

June 13th: Warwick
5f Maiden Fillies |
7/1 at Sandown with a 3lb apprentice and raced 3 wide at a meeting where
the far rail was a notable advantage. Broke first and pressed the
lead to past halfway before starting to stall and drift left from inside
1.5f out. Slightly faded. Estimate [43]
Moderate form in a slow race last time. Has not shown enough to be
competitive in an avaerage open maiden and has limited improvement.
