June 9th: Ripon
6f Maiden |
Made a high price at the Goffs sales and a reasonable increase on the foal
level.
Good, but much derided sire (for getting 'morning glories'), has an average
record with British raced 2yos. Wins tend to come from mid season onwards
over 7f+.
He has had two 6f debuts in the last two weeks who both ran in midfield
looking to lack some pace after missing the break.
Dam originally trainer in Germany was placed in their 1000 guineas. Went
to the US and placed in a Grade 2 race.
NH trainer had his first 2yos in 2004 with the variety of expensive horses
purchased by G. Wylie. He made good use of these. The earliest debuts included
the better runners and two FTO winners.
His first debut in 2005 put up a strong placed performance at 4/1 and won
well STO. The second debut was well beaten at 18/1 and the third backed
at 9/4 and 3rd in a Novice race. The next two were well beaten at 28/1
and a drifting 20/1.
He had a good type win FTO at Hamilton yesterday at 9/2.
In summary the market has been a good indicator of what is expected from
the trainer debut runners. The pedigree is more 7f+ and he would need to
be useful to win FTO over 6f. Profile [58 + 5 = 63]
