March 30th: Declared
Folkestone 5f Maiden |
Cheap price for Tattersalls Part 2 sales (yearlings are 'graded' downwards
from front to back through the TO1 and TO2 sales)
By second season sire who made a good start with 2yos in 2004 with a soild
number of winners and notable for some good quality types. Got 5f winners
but runners tended to be better from May onwards.
Dam unraced with mixed influences in pedigree but by sire who is fine for
sprint 2yo production. However she hasn't had a runner with 3 previous
foals.
Trainer has a poor record with 2yos even given his approach which is to
buy very cheap fillies, have them very fit on debut and then run them often.
Probably hasn't had a 2yo win with a Colt.
He has had one runner this season with an 'expensive' filly who didn't
even show the normal early zip although she was fit enough.
In summary a moderate pedigree and cheap sales price suggest this is more
the trainer's usual 2yo type. Ought to be ready to run close to best and
be prominent early but not good enough in the group. Profile [48]
If this runner doesn't show the trainer's normal debut run with cheap 2yos
then need to assess whether he's trying something different in 2005.
