May 10th: Yarmouth
6f Auction |
Made solid price at the Doncaster St Leger sales. Penalised 7lb for the
price in this Class 6 Auction and joint topweight.
Reviewed at the sales and rated 63. He was neat and deep but notably physically
immature at the sales and a surprise to see him run this early.
Sire has average record with 2yos and best record at 6f.
The dam has produced a range of winners but the latest two have been precocious
sprint 2yos and the better one was useful.
Small stable does not target 2yo racing and had no runner in 2004. He had
one seller level win from 12 runners in the previous two seasons. Debut
runners are usually very competent and within 5-8lbs of final rating. FTO
SPs are usually 20/1+ and show poor correlation to overall ability.
In summary likely to rate up to around 70 at best if he has developed well
physically. The early debut suggests that is possible. Trainer's debuts
tend to be competent and close to final rating and often finish in the
4th-6th range if they have ability. Gives 7lbs to the unpenalised colts.
