5.1f Maiden |
Sold for lowish price at Doncaster St Leger sales.
Reviewed at the sales and rated 63 but with a below average chance of being
a competitive 2yo at his level. He was an ok size and with solid build
but lengthy, shallow and not well developed.
By a second season sire who made an average start in 2004 with a limited
number of 2yos. Got winners at 5f but they were from May onwards.
Dam has a middle distance (at least) pedigree. Won at 3yo in Italy.
Trainer does not target FTO wins and debut wins tend to come with the better
runners. He has made a slow start to 2005 but has had two STO winners in
the last 5 days.
Trainer has run varied types in the equivalent race 2002-4. He has two
debut runners in the race and both were cheaper 'buys'. This one possible
second string on jockeys.
In summary will need 6f+ and unlikely to be fully ready on debut on trainer's
record and 2yo runners in 2005. Profile [55]

Post Race |
One of two trainer runners and received some support from 10/1 to 7/1 as
the other stayed at 10/1. In a race lacking a strong pace he settled in
last place at halfway although only two lengths off the pace. Made some
progress after the race quickened from inside 2f out but although 3rd the
2nd and 4th both made ground on him in the last 1 furlong. Ran roughly
to expectations in a slowish race. Estimate [63]

May 5th: Chepstow
5f Maiden |
The form of his debut run is difficult to read because of the overall slow
pace and '2f sprint' it turned into. The 4th Zato (just behind him and
made ground on him in the sprint) has won a maiden at Brighton, the winner
ran poorly in the Lily Agnes and the 5th (his stablemate) showed no improvement
in the same race at Brighton as Zato.
The trainer runs two here and this is the first string. The trainer tends
to target STO wins and should improve here. Profile [68]

May 27th: Pontefract
6f Conditions |
13/8f at Chepstow in a race with a good pace. Three wide off the rail early
and moved up to second to track the leader by half a length at halfway.
That runner made an effort 2f out and outpaced him and went more than a
length clear and looked the likely winner. The leader faded in the last
half furlong (had run freely and looked wound up before the race) and he
stayed on to get up close home. Estimate [65]
Steps up to 6f which should be better for him on pedigree and race style.
The second and third from his last win have both run well since with. Tous
Les Deux has won a 5f Novice at Windsor and Montzando has run second in
an average Haydock 5f auction.
Trainer entered three for the race and he runs rather than Cool Creek or
Green Pride. He has not had a runner in the race in the last three years.
