Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
April 13th: Declared
Newmarket 5f Mf
  • Sold for good price at Irish sales. Sire's yearlings sold well and wouldn't be in the top half of the prices paid for his yearlings.
  • First season sire made his debut in August over 7f and showed his best 2yo form at 8f. Made a good impression at the sales but had received  a lot of good quality mares in his first year.
  • Dam was well related but not precocious and developed to show her best form over 10f late in her 3yo season. Her only previous foal did not run at 2yo.
  • Rich, owner-trainer has sold off his 1000 employee company in Sweden and devotes more of his time to training. Notable for the relative quality of the 2yos he can purchase for a 'new' trainer.
  • The five 2yos he has run in 2003-4 have usually made later season debuts. They have usually been competent although with room to develop. The best of these 2yos won on an August debut and was a shorter SP than normal at 13/2.
  • In summary an expensive sales buy but not startling given how well the sire's yearlings sold and the dam's race record and breeding. The pedigree is of a late season 7f+ 2yo that should develop at 3yo. So, a common question is what is she doing over 5f in April especially when the trainer doesn't start 2yos until mid-season normally. A useful type? Or one that needs to win when she can to ensure her broodmare value?  Profile [58]
  • April 13th: Newmarket
    Post Race
  • Has a notably non-5f pedigree and was steady around 14/1. Her trainer has shown with his few previous 2yo runners that he assesses them at home and he usually chooses a sensible time and race for them to start in.
  • Reared in the stalls and lost around two lengths but had the advantage of being on the same side as the pacemaking group. She recovered fairly quickly to be two lengths off the leaders at halfway. The pacemakers all drifted left from inside 2 furlongs out but Peace And Love hung left and cut across another runner and became slightly unbalanced and the jockey allowed her to gather herself. She showed a solid response in the last uphill section as he asked for another effort. A promising debut although not as 'unlucky' as it may be thought. She did not show herself to be a real 'speed' filly but showed good promise to develop over 6f+.  Profile [65]
  • May 2nd: Kempton
    5f Maiden
  • Runs again over 5f although did not look best suited to it at Newmarket. The form of her debut run has questions marks given that the 2nd and 3rd were both beaten on their next runs. This one (4th) plus the 5th (Adeje Park) run today to further test the form.
  • Trainers runners usually show improvement but questionable how well this flat 5f will suit her if the pace is good.  Profile [68 + 5 = 73]
  • May 13th: York
    6f Fillies' Listed
  • Steady around 6/4jf as King Malachi was backed. A much more professional run and broke well and was 2L clear in the lead after one furlong but setting just an average pace. Increased pace after halfway but easily caught and headed by Assertive who had lost ground. That runner faded late and allowed her to plug on to get back up. The moserate runners close up on this pair in the last furlong. Looked a small type and lacking scope.  Estimate [65]
  • Her win over 5f last time looks less good following the later runs of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th. Overall the race looks over-rated and she seems to run to the best she could over 5f. Her size is a worry and she seems to lack scope to develop.  Profile [70]
  • June 17th: York
    6f Fillies' Group 3
  • 7/1 at York in May on soft ground. Tracked an average pace by 3L at halfway (1st 2 aleady in place). Made an effort 2f out but outpaced by the 5f types and faded to 7th. Estimate [66]
  • Steps up to 6f and looks better on pedigree but limited by here size and this likely to be a fast 6f.  Profile [72]
