Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
June 2nd: Brighton
5.3f Maiden
  • Made a poor price at the Tattersalls Part 1 sales and notably lower than the last foal from the dam. Trainer has raced the best two 2yos from the dam.
  • Sire won over 6f to 8.5f and was a 6f debut winner at 2yo in the UK on May 18th. Won on dirt in UAE and US later. Has had few 2yo runners in the UK and one winner.
  • He has had one other runner in 2005 who has placed over 5f showing 60s rated form.
  • Dam was a superior 5f 2yo and has produced one similar type and a useful 5f 2yo.
  • Third runner of the season for her trainer. This is an early start and he usually starts his 2yos in a batch in July. He had a group of June debuts in 2003 which were average winner types.
  • The earliest runners in each season will include most of the winners. He assesses his 2yos at home before they run and will have a plan with most of them depending upon the ability they have.
  • He does not not target strong debuts and gets occasional winners with better types that can rate 70+ FTO usually in weaker races. A shorter SP (less than 3/1) has been significant in the last two seasons.
  • His first debut was a good second in a moderate fillies' race at Redcar 2 days ago. She travelled well but got tired in the last furlong.
  • Worth noting that the trainer's first three debuts have been a mix of types. 2 have been cheap buys and related to 2yos he has previously trained. The other is an expensive fill for E. Loder.
  • In summary likely to be a moderate physical type given the low price in the context of her very good siblings. Unlikely to be the useful type he gets FTO winners with.  Profile [55 + 5 = 60]
  • June 13th: Brighton
    5.3f Auction
  • Drifted from 3/1 to 13/2 as the trainer's third runner of the season. Last of five early in a race with a solid pace, more than 3L bheind after a furlong. More than 4L off the leaders at halfway and driven along. Made progress to second as the leaders stalled toward the final furlong and challenged but held reasonably comfortably by a runner with experience. Estimate [61]
  • Trainer now getting into his STO phase with the earliest runners and her 10 day break is pretty typical. Runners who have made solid debuts usually show 6-10lb improvement. His first STO runner two days ago had won on debut and just got beaten in a 3 runner race.
  • In sumamry the trainer seems to have found a soft race for her and in receipt of wight from the colts she sets a good standard. Profile [67 + 8 = 75]
