Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
April 25th: Windsor
5f Auction Fillies
  • Made reasonable price at the Tattersalls Ireland sales and second most expensive in the field.
  • Third season sire has made a very good start to his career with 2yos in 2003-4. Has a good winner to runner percentage and good quality.
  • Sire gets wins at all distances including 5f. Has had only one 5f winner before May. Debut wins have tended to come after April.
  • Dam was a claimer winner over 10f and has produce three moderate runners.
  • Younger trainer with developing stable and has tried different approaches to debut runs with 2yos. However his earliest debut in 2002 and 2004 were competitive to place and one won. In 2004 the earliest debuts produced a win and two seconds at 14/1, 10/1 and 9/2. None of these three improved after their second run.
  • Trainer has had two uncompetitive runners so far in 2005 and we are not later in the season than when he had the early wins in 2004.
  • Trainer has two runners and this possibly preferred on jockeys.
  • In summary the sire is going to have to add the 'class' if she is going to better than a 60ish rating. Trainer appears to have gone back to being happy with 'development' debuts in 2005. Ok draw in 11 and is joint topweight in a race with only a 4lb range.  Profile [54]
  • May 5th: Folkestone
    5f Maiden
  • 14/1 and plugged on for a remote 5th of 15 in a slow race on soft ground. The field went far side at halfway so she finished in centre track.  Estimate [38]
  • Trainer runs two here and he has not had a competitive 2yo run yet in 2005. Receives 2lb from the unpenalised colts. Profile [50 + 2 = 52]
  • June 1st: Beverley
    5f Listed Fillies
  • 13/2 at Folkestone with a 3lb apprentice in a tough race. Outpaced early behind a strong pace and some late progress in the last furlong although slightly hampered.  Estimate [50]
  • Before this season the trainer did not tend to run 2yos above their ability. Two days ago had 3 runners in the National Stakes and this filly runs here. The stablemate she was first string over at Folkestone has run well in good races since but she finished with moderate types.  Profile [68 + 3 = 71]
