May 28th: Goodwood
6f Auction |
Not sold for a poor bid level at the Doncaster breeze up sales and below
the low yearling price. Bred by Plantation Stud (Kris, Diesis, Grand Lodge,
etc.) who raced the previous foals.
Sire has below average record with 2yos after his Hamdam Al Maktoum supported
first season in 2001. Gets odd 5f winner but runners tend to need 6f+.
Runners tend to be better from mid-season onwards.
Sire has had 6 moderate runners in 2005.
Dam related to middle distance winners like Sardegna won a 12f maiden for
H. Cecil on her debut at 3yo. Same trainer has raced the first two foals
who needed 7f+ at 2yo but neither have won despite typical trainer debut
fitness.
Small stable tends to work with bargain basement 2yos and gets the competitive
ones ready early in the season. He does not target strong debuts other
than in occasional selling races.
He has had one placed debut in 2005 in an early season race where the pacemakers
went too quick. That runner has not won in 3 later races. His latest debut
was backed from 50/1 to 6/1 then drifted back to 9/1. Ran a typical midfield
debut.
Trainer runs two here.
In summary a poor story and a development debut for a poor athlete.
