July 4th: Windsor
6f Maiden |
Made a lowish to middling price at the Doncaster St Leger sales.
Reviewed at the sales and rated 66 but with a solid chance of being a 2yo
winner at his level. Above average size and quite heavily built and acceptably
powerful overall. Front somewhat out of proprtion.
By third season sire who made a good start in 2003 with 2yos including
6f winners. 2004 a poor follow up season (not unusual for new sire's records
to falter in second and third seasons).
Sire has had a seller winner in 2005.
Dam had mixed pedigree and won over 12f and has produced one winner who
took until October of his 3yo season to win over 10f.
Stable does not target strong debuts with 2yos and only one debut runner
placed in 2004. Gets the odd debut winner with useful+ 2yos.
His four debuts in 2005 have been unplaced although the best filly was
backed but showed inexperience and finished 4th. Two of the 4 runners have
won at Goodwood and another has run a strong second place there.
In summary looked capable of being a minor winner at the sales and probably
a good sign he runs this early for the trainer. But more likely to be a
development debut for a runner needing 7f+. Assess for future potential.
