July 4th: Windsor
6f Maiden |
Made a good price as the second Lot in the Select Session of the Tattersalls
October Part 1 sales. A solid increase from the foal level.
Good sire has a variable record with 2yos and just about average overall.
As a group they tend to be better for development later in the season.
He gets wins at all distances.
Sire has had eight runners in 2005 and two have won average 6f maidens
on debut. Another has won over 7.5f STO after a placed 6f debut.
Dam has a just above average pedigree but not strong by the standards of
the Select sales this one sold in. Her best sibling won the Norfolk Stakes.
She showed poor form and her one claim to fame is producing Frenchman's
Bay who placed in the Horris Hill and 200 Guineas and broke his maiden
at 4yo.
Good trainer has a well above average record with 2yos. He looks to win
a maiden in the first two runs and then step the better 2yos up to conditions
races or higher. He assesses 2yos at home and debut runs used to be mostly
competent and places were common and the better 2yos could win on debut.
Trainer has had ten debut runs in 2005 with three solid second or third
places, one at 33/1. Two others were 4th & 5th in a fillies' 6f maiden
at Newmarket. The other four have drifted in the market and been comfortably
beaten including a volunteer third.
IN summary a stand out pedigree in a moderate race despite the dam's record.
The trainer has his runners competent FTO but not wound up these days on
2005 evidence. Poor draw in 1 of 16 so a fair chance he'll find himself
well back. However, in a moderate race overall he ought to get through
to make the first 4. Profile [65]
