April 13th: Declared
Newmarket 5f Mf |
Made reasonable price at the sales.
By a good sire with a notably good 2yo winner to runner record. Sire get
winners at range of distances but solid record at 5-6f and can also get
early runners. Sire can get FTO winners. He has already had a 5f winner
in 2005.
Dam had 6f+ pedigree but did not run at two. Made two unplaced runs over
7-8f at 3yo with 3 months break between them before being retired. Has
produced two previous foals which have not run at 2yo.
Trainer had increase in 2yos in 2004 and best runner was competitive on
debut in mid-April. With less 2yos and quality in previous season debuts
usually poor. SP on debut has not been an indicator of better ability.
Trainer has had one debut in 2005 by a more expensive yearling that was
uncompetitive. Interesting to note that the trainer has only had one debut
at the course in 2002-4 (most are at northern courses). That runner - Glaramara
- was unplaced but won STO and was rated 90 at 2yo.
In summary an acceptable pedigree for an average sprint 2yo and a good
sign she runs so early given her dam's record. Trainer's record with debuts
is variable but they tend not to be competitive. Interesting that he has
chosen to make a debut at this course. Profile [56]

April 13th: Newmarket
Post Race |
66/1. Showed little in the race in a similar way to the trainer's other
debut runner in 2005. The trainer's debuts have been very variable over
the last four seasons and runners with some ability have made 'duff' debuts.
Worth at least checking her performance next time for improvement. Estimate

May 4th: Chester
5f Maiden |
Trainer runs two (filly and a clot) who both made their debuts at Newmarket.
This one may be the second string on jockeys and showed less ability on
debut. Moderate draw in 11 of 16 and check for improvement. Profile

May 4th: Chester
Post Race |
66/1 at Chester in a race which had a strong pace and had the field spread
across 10L+ by the end of the first furlong. Raced 3 wide and got to the
back of the chasing group behind the three leaders contesting a strong
pace. 7L off the lead at halfway and made a slight effort as the leaders
stalled and the race closed up. Faded inth elast furlong again.

June 4th: Haydock
5f Maiden |
Has had the same development as the trainer's Mytton's Pride who won at
Beverley this week. Quiet start in a Newmarket maiden followed by a run
in the same Chester maiden. Profile [57]
