April 9th: Declared for
Newcastle 5f Novice |
Appears not to have gone to the sales.
By a First Season Sire that had few opportunities. Had a long career winning
from 2-7yo and won over 5f at 2yo. Has average pedigree but should be capable
of siring minor sprint 2yos. Has had one poor runner in sellers so far
in 2005.
Dam was a 60s rated sprint 2yo and has made a speciality out of producing
similar types with her previous 2yos. The last foal won this race in 2004
for the same trainer (on her second run) and was a standard issue, early
season & 60s rated sprint 2yo.
Trainer has had few 2yos since he started training under his own licence
in 2003. Evidence suggests he has his runners competent and close to their
final rating on debut with early runners.
In summary ought to be a 55-62 rated sprint 2yo if the sire can do the
job and an early type. Trainer likely to have her mostly ready on debut.

April 8th: Newcastle
Post Race |
20/1. Tracked the pacemaker by a length at halfway on soft ground. Lead
inside 2f as the leader faded and held on well from a penalised previous.
Estimate
[56]
Has more substance than the dam's previous foal - Mitchelland - who was
a 65 rated early winner.

May 11th: York
5f Novice |
Won a slow 5f on soft ground on debut from moderate types who gave weight.
The time was slow and the overall form moderate. The subsequent runs by
the second and third have confirmed the low level of that form. On the
positive side he looked to have the build to rate higher than the dam's
previous foal. However, his trainer tends to have his 2yos ready on debut
and they do not show much improvement. Penalised 7lb for his win and gives
3lb+ to the other runners. Profile [74 - 7 = 67]

June 18th: York
5f Listed |
8/1 at York with Fallon riding (rides Ker Lani today). Race run on soft
ground with a good pace. Ran slightly freely early and hel up by Fallon
(nothing new there). 1.5L off the pace at halfway and no response then
faded in the last 1.5F. Looked very fit and a ready type with limited scope
to develop. Mulish at the post and hooded for stalls entry and the jockey
had to dismount at one stage. Estimate [68]
Profile points to a runner that has reached his best in earlier season.
This is not a strong edition of the race but he looks short of the the
better types still. Estimate [69 + 4 = 73]
