April 6th: Declared for
Nottingham 5f Maiden |
Retained for low but not basement price at DOC sales.
By a first season sire that showed best form at 7f as a 2yo winning a Group
1 race as the stable's third string.
Sire made an average to good impression at the sales. B2yoR reviewed 12
of his yearlings and most were rated at an acceptable level although the
cheaper ones (similar to this one) tended to be moderate types.
Dam has mixed pedigree but was not precocious and needed 13f to win at
a low level and ran over 17f. Has produced one foal who did not race at
2yo.
The trainer regularly uses this race or its equivalent to run his best
2yo in. However, he has made a fast start to 2005 and has already had 5
debut winners and has presumably shown us his best 2yos.
However, the trainer's runners are clearly well ahead on readiness on debut
to any other trainer's 2yos so far in 2005.
Trainer runs two in the race for the same owner-breeder and this is second
string on jockeys.
In summary a mixed pedigree and likely to need 6f+ and to develop. Likely
to be professional on debut although not able to compete with the better
types. Profile [56]

April 6th: Nottingham
Post Race |
16/1 and trainer and owner second string to the favourite Bathwick Prince.
Driven early after leaving the stalls and well off the pace which was a
good thing the way the race worked out. Kept on in the last half furlong
to run through the stalled (& knackered) runners including his stablemate.
The race time was so slow he probably only needed to run to his pre-race
estimate to get second. No particular promise. Estimate [53]

5.7f Maiden |
Poor form on debut and the winner of that race was beaten in a claimer
2 days ago. Trainer's runners have shown moderate improvement STO.

June 7th: Salisbury
6f Auction |
Received support to 11/2 at Bath in a race where a number were backed.
Race had solid pace and as at Nottingham he never got into the race but
plugged on from being midfield to reach a modest 4th. Estimate
[62]
Steps up to 6f but on a less stiff course. Again likely to be keeping on
but seems likely to lack the overall pace to win this type of race.
