Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
June 16th: Beverley
7.5f Auction
  • Made a solid price at the Tattersalls Ireland sales.
  • Sire has solid record with 2yos 2003-4 and can get 5-6f winners, including in early season and occasionally on debut. He has had one STO winner in 2005.
  • He gets winners at 7f but has had none at more than 7.5f in the last two seasons so this race on debut is the edge of his apparaent range.
  • Dam has sprint pedigree and placed over 6f at 2yo and has produced a sprinter as her best runner. Her latest winner needed 11.6f at 4yo to break his maiden and showed onlt moderate form.
  • Trainer used to have his own small stable but was appointed as private trainer in owner J. Fretwell's new, purpose built stables in 2004.  When the trainer had his only stables the better 2yos used to rate around 60-65 on debut and improve 14lbs STO. Interesting to see his approach in his new position.
  • He has had 9 debuts so far with the best types rating between 58-69 and competitive to win and place in weaker races. However, they have still shown good improvement from the debut runs suggesting he still is not targeting strong FTO runs.
  • He introduced a solid type yesterday who won FTO but at 14/1 and again suggesting an accidental FTO win by a better type in a moderate race.
  • In summary not a good sign he starts at 7.5f given his pedigree. Profile [55]
  • June 29th: Catterick
    7f Maiden
  • 14/1 at Beverly and wide draw. Broke ok but showed notable inexperience and driven along from the start.More than 10L behind the leaders at halfway. Some progress late into midfield and going forward at the finish.  Estimate [48]
  • Some promise in his finish at Beverley but going on into poor runners (3rd and 4th in that group well beaten since). Trainer's runners have been coming on quite well from debut but he looked quite slow there and not one that will obviously better for this charp track.  Profile [56]
