Class 4 maiden which often attracts some better class fillies. Last year's
winner on debut was Mark Prescott's Starlit Sands who was just beaten in
the Queen Mary STO. The 2nd & 3rd were both from Northern trainers
and proved to be maiden winners without long term development. As well
as the two qualifiers below the race features a debut from Mick Channon
for Ahmed Al Maktoum (passing the 'Important owner' test for debut win
attempts) with Daanaat. After a slow start to the year the trainer
is 7 wins from 12 runs since May 2nd. He is 6 from the last 7 runs including
three debut wins (for himself, Harry Findlay's mother & longstanding
partnership Box 41 = 1 x 'me', 2 x 'muckers' & this would be a 'Maktoum).
Given that it should be a tough race with Excellent Show representing a
trainer also in form along with interesting debut runners from Karl Burke
and Tim Easterby (Haigh Hall ought to be bettere than his usual
inept debut outing).

Excellent Show (B Smart, March to May), trainer 3 from 6 with
debut runners this year and has shown his normal pattern of starting by
running a batch of competitive 2yos. The right mix of winnable Northen
maiden and enough nous from his horse has seen the wins. This is an expensive
purchase for Shekh Mohammed's son for whom he has had two winners this
season (1 on debut and one STO).

Harriet's Girl (KR Burke, 5-6f). Trainer just getting into
the late May to early June period when he gets debut winners with his best
sprint 2yos. Wins with 2yos on any run before this time are rare. Had his
first winner of the season yesterday when Lord Shanakill won the York 6f
Maiden well after just an ordinary debut over 5f in April.
