BACKGROUND NOTES :-
  • 1987 foal owner bred by S. Niarchos and trained by F. Boutin in France. Won four races at 6f to 7f between 2yo to 3yo. At 2yo won all three races in 6f maiden, 6f Group 1 Prix Morny on Aug 20th and 7f Group 1 Prix de la Salamandre on Sept 10th. Won 7f Listed April 10th at 3yo, placed in the 2000 Guineas, unplaced in the Irish 2000 and finally unplaced in 6.5f Group 2 Prix Maurice de Gheest on Aug 5th (as 1/2 fav) and retired.
  • To stud in 1991 and died in 2004. A very good record with, for example, his fee in 2002 at £60,000 (from a highpoint of £80,000) and twice the level of any other stallion in Britain at that time. Gets winners at a spread of distances with his Group 1 winners ranging through Patavellian (5f), Rebecca Sharp (8f), Vettori (8f), Street Cry & Almutawakel (both 10f on dirt), Medicean (10f), Best Of The Bests (12f) and Invermark (16f).
  • Variable record with his British raced 2yos and just above average overall. In general he is not known for producing precocious 2yos despite his own record and many of his best runners have developed at 3yo. Gets winners at all distances from 5f to 8f from late June onwards. Majority of winners in the period 2002-5 have been at maiden level with the exceptions at better quality being Asia Winds (Listed 7f in 2003) and Palace Episode (8f Group 1 in 2005).
  • 7 yearlings sold in 2005, all colts, for an average above 100,000gns. 5 in 2006 again for an average above 100,000.
  • 2005 to 2007 Winners List.
