TBaines talked up as better than Farmer Giles who ran poorly last week. Support in AM but drift on-course. Hannon runner also drift and not look gd nor ready. Ew support for a number of outsiders but only Iver Bridge Lad show well. He was prob the talles t in the field and well grown for 1k sales price. Slow starts from 4 of them incl both Ivory runners. Flapjack broke slowly and needing driving to get going. TBaines green in preliminaries and similar in race. Broke ok from widest draw but not pick-up well and dived right to the stands' rail. He then ran a bit free to be on the back of the leading group at halfway. BChancer led early to just past halfway and faded & lmtd. IBL took over next to rail & Red Jazz, who moved well & listened maturely to the jk moved up easily to press him. As the rest of the field faded and hung to centre track TBaines plugged on to go third on the rail. These three pull clear and the distances between them expanded as IBL & TB stalled and were eased. RJazz ran on strongly and looked a useful prospect as a strong, bull 2yo. If Barry Hills has 2yos better than him to start at Newmarket next week it will be exciting to see. No promise beyond the 1st 3 & TBaines another poor, immature, run by a Bell 2yo. |
