2Official going description was GF with Firm strip on Stands' side in straight. Unusual for a Clerk Of The Course to admit a ground based bias. You normally have trouble getting them to say the 'Rail might be a bit quicker' after everything drawn against it has won by 5L. As at the previous meetings all fields came centre to stands' in straight although a lone far rail runner in a leter raced seemd to fare quite well. Race moderate for fast conditions & Ailsa Carmel appeared to get away with seting an average pace, at best, and getting an easy lead. She pulled clear well in centre track late on. In previous races she has seemed to curl up mentally when challenged and this race meant she never had another horse with her. She also seems better for the stiffer test here then at Brighton. Worth remembering that she ran very well on softer going FTO so may have some extra improvement for that. Still growing & 'Up Behind' she appears still to be maturing physically & mentally. Can rate higher. This win the first of a batch of 'Tidy Up' wins in north for Mick Channon. Hard to see much promise behind with extended distances back in a slower time. HoTiger very fit & ready for day & got shuffled back early. Made smooth progress to second but low level form. Check NTO. Urban Clubber not appear to see the 5.9f out. Vague positive for OCDeal who is limited but seems a trier. |
