SUMMARY
2Poor field and simple race story. Vilnius solid as favourite and penalised Transfixed drift. Support for Gertmegalush with trainer having had 2 x FTO winners with useful types this year.
Well drawn Transfixed & Vilnius broke well and join up together in lead early and clear of the tiny Gasparilla who got going third best in a generally ragged start. Gertmegalush the slowest starter of others jumping out of the stalls late and landing flat footed and needing to be driven to get going.
Leading pair 2.5L clear of Gasparilla at halfway and a further 3.5L+ back to others with Gertmegalush back into this lagging group. Vilnius took the lead going to the final furlong as Transfixed stalled. Only change in position of leading three.
Gertmegalush made a little progress out of poor pack into the gap between the 1st 3 and the others by the finish. More For Less green and also raced mid-track and some progress. Poor form and first two close to their best. Positive for trainer with Gasparilla's competent debut to add to his FTO winner last week (a new mark in his training record). Gertmegalush a more typical debut for trainer than his better FTO winners. Presumably up to winning a poor seller if he wises up but check attitude.
