2Firm going and fast times. Solid pace split the front 5 (4 x STO plus HoF) from the slowly away garbage early. Back 4 all faded badly with SFiction blinkered & whipped as soon as the gates opened. Made no difference and he still refused to exert himself. HoF on FTO and bigger than the STOs. Looked clueless and won despite that. Broke best and led but the accepted sitting next to the tiny Gasparilla as she took the pace on. OTR & BR both close up within half a length. Musiara lack pace & 2L backin 5th at Hf. Solid pace told after halfway and Gaspa. blow up completely in stages. BRum drop back by 2F out and outpaced before fading. OTR unable to go with HoF (still looking unpressed & daft) in final furlong. OTR hung right 1F in and poss not stretch on firm. But making excuses for him prob a bad idea and another poor effort. Musiara lack pace to go with front 4 but jockey still persisting to line to grab 4th so perhaps she has a poor 7f seller in her. No promise overall but the winner can do a little better with the experience. Her trainer had another well backed FTO failure this season in the previous race and HoF was unconsidered at 18/1 for this win. A 'Shrewd' trainer having a sub-shrewd day. |
